Sydney - favorite in Kiribilli?

LulusMom Mar 25, 2013 05:59 AM

Sorry if I've spelled that wrong. We stayed in this area a couple of years ago and I now have a good friend living there. Does anyone have a favorite restaurant in that area - something a big special, that they could recommend? Many thanks in advance.

Most of what would be recommended in Kirribilli is Asian - it is a hotbed of Thai restaurants. But they don't fit the brief.

The other which will definitely fit the bill is Aqua. Stunning view and very good food.

Fantastic. This is very helpful (and I remember you helping me two years ago when we were there - thanks for that too!).

Oh, and go to Aqua at lunch - the view is better and it's cheaper

Looking this place up online I now totally remember it. Absolutely gorgeous view - glad to hear the food is also very good. Thank you again.

Aqua is OK with a stunning view but technically its in Milsons Point not Kirribilli......I know the suburbs are next to each other.

The problem with the area is it is so close to the city so most people will pop over the bridge for a big night out - as MrG says lots of small trendy Asian restaurants.

I remember the Asian restaurants, and a nice, cozy Italian restaurant with lots of fish (not the well regarded fish restaurant in the area). Not sure how my friend would feel about going into the city, but I'm guessing it would be no big deal. But at the same time I know he loves hanging out at a pub in Kiribilli so my guess is that he likes feeling local. My goal is to be able to send him someplace with a friend that makes him feel a little pampered but not in a way that feels stuffy. He's definitely not the stuffy type.

And hi PhilD. Nice to chat with you. Hope all is well.

Kirribilli doesn't have much in the way of fine dining. Aqua and La Capannina (sp?) are it. Milson's is now closed, the site is now the trendy Botanist small bar.

However, it is short ferry ride to Circular Quay , where you could try Guillaume or Aria or Quay - all very highly rated. I personally like Ocean Room, but that's just me.

Thanks so much. I well remember the short but beautiful ride over to Circular. Just figured it is always nice to have someplace close to home.

            I love Garfish.

I prefer to order off their daily changing menu!
