In Cancun RIGHT NOW, have a couple of questions
Hi fellow chowhounds! I am currently in Cancun, staying at the north end of the Hotel Zone. I have gone through the posts here, which are very Playa Del Carmen heavy. We are planning to get down that way, but we don't have a car, so most of our time will be focused in Cancun. We are quickly learning that the best food here is going to be in the Centro (downtown) area. What I am wondering is:
1. Is there ANY good food in the Hotel Zone that isn't 5 star priced hotel food? I am thinking mexican or seafood that is reasonably priced and good but not overly Americanized. We went to El Fish Frittanga which was good, not awesome, but good. I liked the shrimp tacos and guac there.
2. We do plan on doing one spendy dinner while we are here. Both food and ambiance are important for that, something romantic such as an ocean or lagoon view (or better yet outside with ocean view) would be nice. Any recommendations anywhere along the coast that we can get to by bus is ok.
3. Where is the best place to get Chilaquiles from? Cancun location preferred (Centro is fine), but if you know of any good places down the coast, that is ok too. We plan on hopping some buses and getting out of Cancun as well.
Thanks to Veggo for all of your great posts. I hope to try some of the awesome sounding Lechon stands in PDC when we make it down there.
