Looking for two Kosher for Passover Items in Manhattan

  • 8

Anyone know if I can get kosher L'Pesach ricotta cheese as well as pine nuts with K for P certification and if either or both are available in Manhattan and if so, where? Thanks.

  1. I'm not in Manhattan but raw nuts don't need certification and pine nuts aren't generally sold roasted. If you can't find ricotta cheese I've substituted Friendship farmers cheese for it. It's pretty close. Good luck!

there are 2 Cholov brands available in the 5 Towns. I would think you could get it in Seasons in Manhattan.

    2. I definitely saw pine nuts at Seasons in Queens, so I would assume the Seasons in Manhattan would also have them. They were in a plastic container packages by Seasons itself. I would have thought that ricotta was easy to find, but I just did a quick look at the OU Guide and didn't see any they certify. Maybe another hechsher does?

      1. I've seen K-for-P pine nuts in Key Food on 187th and Broadway, but I doubt you'd need to shlep all the way up there for them. They also have K-for-P farmer cheese, if that's an acceptable substitute for ricotta for you; I don't think I've ever seen Pesach-certified ricotta.

        1. Seasons has pine nuts. I think Fairway does, also. Both have expansive dairy sections.

          1. Spectrum coconut oil marked Pesach - did anyone see it at Fairway or Seasons?

            1. Westside market has the ricotta. The brand is fresh and tasty, I think.

I saw that brand (or is it fresh and healthy?), mehedrin brand, and Susan's gourmet brand. All in Brooklyn, but at least know what brands to look for.

We had the Susan's gourmet ricotta this morning. It was delicious.
