Casa Napoli R.I.P.???
Drove by Casa Napoli in Little Italy tonight and just noticed the papered-up windows. Sign on door dated January 13th said closed for renovations and looking forward to reopening "soon". Hmmm not a very good sign as most restos with these kinda signs never re-open. Anyone got any insights as to what happened??? BTW Cordeli's across the street was HUMMING!!!
Oh no! I loved that restaurant, even though I went only a few times a year, I really enjoyed the experience. It did seem very empty on those times though. I believe they also own the tavern right next to it, which is actually really good too! I liked seing pictures of all the celebs that had been there!
Hi, Johnny. Since I live near there, I'd already mentioned this on the restaurant closings 2013 thread, and phoned the restaurant; a recording said they were renovating and would be re-opening "soon" - they may have specified a month, I don't remember. Piccola Casa next door is also closed and papered over.
The restaurant across the street is Corneli:
6741 boulevard St Laurent Montréal, QC H2S 3C8
Corneli seems to also have a location in Montréal-Nord; I think it might be a little chain. It does seem popular.
The nearby Vietnamese byow Lan (nothwest corner St-Laurent and St-Zotique) is also closed and papered over, as is the Italian-Argentine La Recoleta on the east side of St-Laurent just above St-Zotique. There is a new restaurant at the very northeastern corner of St-Laurent and St-Zotique in that former bank building that has seen a succession of restaurants.
However, the restaurant at the southwestern corner of Dante and St-Dominique is being renovated by Stefano Faita; they seem to be hard at work at that every day.
