Emailing someone from this site

chloebell Mar 23, 2013 12:28 PM

How do you do it? Must they post their email in their profile? Thanks in advance for an answer.

Yes, they need to post an email address, (usually on their profile page) for you to be able to email them privately.

And it's often encrypted so as not to get spammed, so you might have to figure it out a bit.

        "And it's often encrypted..."

Although one usually does not have to get the NSA involved to "decrypt" the oftentimes spelled out address. ;-D>

He doesn't have email listed on his profile. :( I'm just curious to know where he's from. He posts like he's from the South, I am too.....curiosity is all it is. Thanks all!

It would be helpful if CH required that profiles include a general location, like Italy or Pacific Northwest. SO many times answers to OP problems are not pertinent because of where the OP lives. No sense in recommending s/he buy, say, a particular Trader Joe's product when s/he lives in Trieste.

You don't even have a profile. Do you expect elves from outer space to connect you?

LOL When I first joined Chowhound, I was advised by other members how to post my email; everyone seems to get through, luckily. If anyone hasn't just let me know!

If the person you would like to contact has not included an e-mail address in their profile, CH allows you to respond on the thread to the poster to please e-mail you at your profile address. The ones worth knowing, will.
Your case is hopeless because you haven't posted a profile.

So in other words, CH doesn't have a PM (aka "Private Message") capacity?

Thanks. But sad. Maybe they need to be brought out of the dark ages. Especially since food websites with far less advertising have that feature.

The idea is to share information with others here, not to establish personal contacts, although many do. You have not included an address. Gotta give a little to get a little. I interact with several dozen CH'ers off-board. Some not frequently, others daily.
