I'm looking for a gastropub or something within a similar price range for a birthday dinner (seven people). We'll be coming from various parts of London so need somewhere near a tube station.
Decision out of my hands! A friend has booked us into The Rooftop Cafe at the Exchange, London Bridge. I'll feed back.
Not dead central but the Jugged Hare is not far from Barbican tube, also Moorgate's not that far.
Would second Jugged Hare, had an excellent Sunday roast there a few months ago.
Also love Great Queen St in Covent Garden which is as central as you can get. Or Anchor and Hope, very close to Waterloo tube (and overground trains)
