French Fries
I am french fry fanatic. You could offer me the the finest chocolate the work has to offer or boardwalk fries and I would take the fries hands down.
I am also a bit of a french fry whore-there really isn't a fry I wouldn't eat. Made from scratch at home, "gourmet" ones with truffles and what not, McD's, frozen steak fries. They are all good.
That is until today. Before heading to the store today I saw a bag of what I thought were McCains steak fries in the bag of the freezer. My husband I bought them on sale last month as he know I like to have a back up supply, LOL.
UGH! These were NOT steak fries! They were "lightly battered and seasoned" potato sticks. Normally the ingredient list would be potato, oil, salt. This ingredient list was a mile long and full of things I couldn't pronounce. Cooked them up anyway thinking "how bad they can they be?"
The answer is TERRIBLE! I have finally met a fry I wont eat. Into the trash they went. A historical day.

Don't make them from fresh very often. From frozen, prefer to FRY them in a few inches of oil rather than bake in oven... get a better crisp that way.
MOST important thing to me is that they be HOT!! Had a co-worker a while ago who did something I thought was a bit "odd" until she explained why. If we went out to a fast food place and she ordered fries, she would always say NO SALT! She'd have to wait longer for her food and then would salt them LIBERALLY herself?? I finally asked her WHY? Said she knew they would have to do a fresh batch and was gauranteed they woud be screaming hot right out of frier... nice trick!
