Yakitori Bar and Seoul Food, Baldwin Street’s two-in-one Korean restaurant

Don't know how long this place has been open, but here's a review:

Has anyone been?

  1. I went and enjoyed it. Reasonably priced, great kimchi and banchan! We all enjoyed our food, which included various featured skewers, japchae, and kimchi poutine - everyone seems to be doing kimchi poutine these days!

Thanks Full tummy! I'm really looking forward to trying it now :) BTW, how long have they been open?

      1. re: kwass

I think a couple of months. Fun vibe.

    2. Had a few friends go there separately, all foodies and I trust their opinions. They said it was pretty horrible...

Interesting. We were just there once, so I can't speak universally. Maybe we were lucky? I should note, too, that we generally stayed away from meat dishes. We love Korean food - I make my own kimchi. I would go back, but it's not a destination.

      2. I went pretty soon after they opened and found the meats chewy and the banchan flavourless and dry. I'd go for drinks and the idea is fun but as it was, I wouldn't go again.

I'm so disappointed! It seems like more people disliked it than liked it.

We didn't have any meat, so I can't comment on the meat. This might have something to do with the difference in levels of satisfaction. I have to say, though, that we enjoyed the banchan. I make my own kimchi and am quite familiar with Korean food. Maybe spotty in terms of food quality. Response seems to be all over the map here, too:

Thanks Full Tummy. I was planning on going in a couple of weeks, but now I think I'm going to go to Ka-Chi on Bloor Street. I've never been, so I hope it's good.

Will do :) I actually just read about another place as well. It's not Korean, but Japanese Izakaya. So it's between those 2. Here's the link to a write up by BlogTo:
