The Great Canadian BBQ Joint (Mississauga)

It's not open yet, but driving on Hurontario just north of Dundas I noticed a sign for the above mentioned spot in what was an former Middle Eastern shawarma joint. It's in the same set of shops where Ming Room used to be (it's now a halal Italian restaurant). East side of Hurontario.

Looking forward to it!

My money is on the place sucks like every other proclaimed "BBQ" place in the GTA

    2. Just me or is that an utterly bizarre location for a BBQ spot?

A bit bizarre, yeah, considering it will be among a sea of Indian, Pakistani, Sri Lankan, and Middle Eastern eating establishments. But Cooksville residents like myself could really use a change like this.

      2. It now open this info is wrong

Well, it wasn't open when the OP posted it I am sure...

Do you have any more info on the place since you seem to know that it is open? Did you try it? Hours/menu/etc/website?

          1. re: ylsf

That's the owner. They posted that they opened but the post was quickly removed.

Ah, thanks. I figured it was since no other messages on here.

Anyway, if anyone goes please report back.

Looks like the owner added his own 5* review of his restaurant on Yelp too -

And looks like stock photos of food that he added to the photo database for the place on Yelp...

        2. Found the menu, the graphic designer posted it up on their site:

Looks very different... Teriyaki , Garlic Herb, Jerk, BBQ flavours..

For fun I might pass by this weekend and check it out.

Let us know if there's any sign of smoke.
The menu suggests it's probably not BBQ.

Will try it some time this week and report back. The place opened pretty quickly; like 24 hours after I first posted.

          2. Had the 1/2 chicken dinner.Chicken was soft and pretty moist, bbq sauce was good.Got the rice and peas for a side,it was just yellow rice with a frozen veggie mix in it,no taste and was hard. Also got the beans, thought they would be baked beans(should have asked first) but they were just kidney beans and can corn with no taste.
My son had the 1/2 rack ribs and spicy fries.Ribs were soft with the same bbq sauce but no smokey taste,Fries are from the freezer but were tasty,Also tried the mac and cheese,it was ok,not great.
Won't be going back, over $30 wasted on subpar food.
RD'S in brampton is much better, smokez in mississauga on dundas between dixie and tomken is also pretty good.

Probably a good thing that I didn't manage to try it this past weekend. I will likely give it a shot at some point if in the area just out of curiosity and will report back.

Did you post a review of Holy Smokez in that thread? Curious to hear what is good there. Going to give it another try.
