need recommendations for CSAs & other local food delivery services

i would like to subscribe to a local CSA for a friend of mine. his wife is ill and they don't have much time or money for preparing meals, and i don't live nearby so i want to make sure his sons still have fresh fruit and veggies to eat.

i would greatly appreciate your recommendations for local csas or farms that can deliver since he doesn't have the time to pick up at a local market.
i'd also love some suggestions for local meat companies, dairy, etc.

thank you!

I didn't think any CSA's had delivery to your door, but it appears there are a couple on this list:

If those don't suit you, find one with a convenient pick-up spot for him.

There are local dairies - most are in east or north county - and your best bet is to search for stores that carry their products. Also, there are plenty of local cheese shops. As far as meat, you could try Iowa Meats or Siesel's.

Good luck, and I think it's really sweet of you to do this for your friends.

I am also looking into CSAs (pick up or delivery) or other to-your-door local/organic produce delivery services. There is some decent info on yelp, actually:

It is a tough decision! Some of the delivery services are low/no commitment, so I might experiment a bit...

If you are in north county I highly recommend morning star farms.
She has weekly and biweekly deliveries with all kinds of options. I never did CSA until 4 months ago and the quality and variety is awesome. They do exotics so you also get macadamia nuts and pineapple guavas etc instead of the usual kale kale kale.
But if you're not in north county and need delivery , you may want to look elsewhere.
