Seeking private dining room for ~12, SF

chilibaby Mar 21, 2013 03:38 PM

I'm looking for recs on a restaurant in the SOMA/Convention Center/Union Square/Embarcadero areas with a small private dining room for ~10-12 people. It seems like many of the private rooms are intended for much bigger groups like 40 or 80 (and are $$$$). This is for a working dinner, so it is important to have a private space.

I see Farallon does have a smaller room and know it was a good option many years back, but how about now? Other places I should look at?

I've had good experiences with Private Dining at Harris Steakhouse, although it's near all of your designated neighborhoods. Old school but great food and service. Here's a link to their private dining rooms: the boardroom and the library are for smaller groups. They try to do 2 seatings each evening but will sell you the room for the night if you need it.

This site is advertising, so it's incomplete, but it has a lot of info:

        I've seen Wayfare's 14-seat room, it's lovely.

Absinthe in Hayes Valley has a nice private dining room (and is walkable from Convention Center/Union Square

AQ in SOMA has two dining private dining areas downstairs, the smaller one could work for you.
