Ribs in Monmouth County?

mrsrossisme Mar 20, 2013 12:56 PM

Anyone have a good recommendation for good, finger licking ribs in the Southern Monmouth County area? Eat in or take out is fine!

    Hickory Hog in Point Pleasant.

Have not been to but maybe Memphis Pig Out in Atlantic Highlands, search the boards for this one, I think I remember reading about it.

Atlantic Highlands would be northern Monmouth. The best ribs in all of Monmouth are at Jack's in Long Branch.

          Not smoked...if you're a smoke ring snob you're gonna be disappointed. :)

No, I like lots of different ribs. They just come out better for me with some smoke flavor ; )

Local smoke has some pretty tasty ribs (in neptune on rt 35)

I haven't been to hickory hog but I hear good things too.

Jersey Shore BBQ in Belmar - http://jerseyshorebbq.com/

Local Smoke in Neptune - http://www.localsmokebbq.com/

Really like the babybacks at Memphis Pig Out, but as has been pointed out that is north Monmouth County.

+1 for JSBBQ. I think Memphis Pig Out's ribs see some boiling and not much if any smoking. I was really disappointed by them, especially since I went after I heard they won some of the barbecue competitions in NJ - they must cook them differently for the comps.

I did not see any bark nor notice any smoke flavor at all on their ribs

Jamison's fried chicken is sublime, but the ribs are not smoked and overcooked. You can tell when you pick up a rib and are left holding a bare bone; leaving a pile of mushy meat on the plate...
