Winston-Salem - eats near UNCSA?

We're traveling to check out UNCSA in Winston-Salem in a few weeks (son will be a freshman there this fall!) - would appreciate any tips on places within walking/biking distance of the campus, plus any tips on a special celebratory place for a weeknight after our visit.

Your not far from downtown so upscale celebration worthy places include Meridian and Mozelles. Though further away, I heartily concur with the Milners recommendation.

In the UNCSA area try the sugar cake/cookies and sparkling muscadine juice in old salem and there is lots of good mexican food in the area around campus.

For lunch try West End cafe, 4th St filling station, Mooneys, Breakfast of Course - all in the downtown area.

I don't think there is anywhere within walking distance of campus...maybe Old Salem Tavern? Lots of good places for your celebratory dinner...Meridian, Milners, Sweet Potatoes come to mind.

Thanks - we'll explore when we get there. Old Salem looks like a nice area.
