Porto restaurant for groups

Dear all.

I will be in Porto in May as part of a groups of 19 people. I am looking for advice on where would be good for large groups. We enjoy good local food and are looking for somewhere central and quite relaxed. I would be very grateful for some advice as most of the recommended restaurants seem to be quite small and may not want large groups.

Many thanks for your help!

  1. I am not a specialist of Porto, but 20 people is not a large group, and most restaurants should be able to accommodate you, especially for lunch as terraces should be usable in May (and providing you book ahead!). Have you thought of having lunch / dinner on a "barco rebelo" (small boat). You could probably book the whole boat for yourselves, and even if the food is so-so the cruise up and down river is worth it.
Several of the Port houses (Taylors, Graham, etc.) can also organise lunches or dinner at their cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia (other side of the river from Porto).
