Food at SXSW that someone here should add to their menu.

My daughter, an Austin, TX resident, sent me an article on SXSW from a spin writer, who wrote that the best food truck food she had was from CHI'LANTRO KOREAN BBQ which was described as (paraphrased, of course) 'Caramelized kimchi, a pile of sizzling Korean BBQ, chopped grilled onions, cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese, cilantro, "magic sauce", sriracha, and sesame seed, all on top of a mound of crispy French fries.' That could be done here. Tell your food-truck-owning friends!

    1. Heh. Chi'lantro Korean BBQ is a copy of the famous Kogi truck in LA, Korean/Mexican fusion out of California that is popping up in most major cities. I've eaten at Chi'lantro, it's pretty good, but I preferred Peached Tortilla in Austin more for my Asian/Mexican fusion.

Thank you for the information. I'll ask Tanya about Peached Tortilla.

      2. there was a 'trailer' for a while near Beretania and McCully that was supposed to have kal-bi tacos with kim chee, etc. Haven't noticed it lately, and never made it over there when it was there, couldn't figure out where to park.

That place disappeared awhile ago. The guy who used to run it set up that new food truck lot on kapahulu. You can read about it here. http://www.nonstophonolulu.com/eating...

        2. ...seems like a strange combination i probably wouldn't mess with. kal bi or bulgogi with cheese? sesame seeds and magic sauce? cilantro and fries? fusion can be wonderful, but sometimes questionable. edit - cilantro and fries is doable. but no peach tortillas.

My daughter says Peached Tortilla is good.

is that fruit in a tortilla or a fruit-flavored tortilla?

maybe in hawaii it could be the Mangoed Tortilla

              1. Keep Austin weird. That's the mantra.
