What happened?

It seems like someone let the air out of this community. Did something happen? Am I imagining it?

Maybe I should start a post about Jack Daniels v Bourbon ;)

For me personally, my enthusiasm for cocktails waned a bit for a while and I took the opportunity to try some of the newer New England beers I'd never had. However, I am planning to go to Drink this afternoon (either my 2nd or 3rd visit) and am excited!

Also, we are throwing a party next weekend, and my wife wants to do some sparkling wine drinks, so I am looking for a little inspiration there as well. Maybe I'll post a thread or two.

For me it's been a mixture of being incredibly busy at work, getting the house ready to put on the market and then going on vacation. I'd say it's also because I gave up drinking for lent, but I noticed that in previous years I'd given it up, I actually read and wrote more than usual about drinks.

I created the best cocktail ever using Vanilla cupcake vodka, freshly muddled jelly beans, and lemon juice! Can I have some feedback on how awesomely yummy this craft cocktail is?!?!

Fred, if you made a cocktail using those ingredients, it would taste good.

You totally need to add a splash of St Germain to that.

Gross overkill on the St. Germain. Just 50 ml of orgeat should nicely balance it.

Or-what? I think you're mispronouncing it. It's ah-ma-reh-toe. But I agree that almond extract pairs well with freshly muddled jelly beans.

You're thinking of those cute little animals that curl up into balls. Armorettos. The have built in armor you see.

It sounds okay, but you should really replace the lemon juice with sweet & sour mix, and a splash of whipped cream flavored vodka wouldn't hurt either.

And a couple of maraschino cherries.

Ooh, yeah. And top up with Sprite, for bubbles! Then you'll become South Florida's best bartender! Well, if you're wearing a top that shows lots of cleavage.

You goofed and submitted your MxMo recipe wrong. I fixed it for you at http://measureandstir.com/2013/03/18/mxmo-lxxi-from-crass-to-craft/

You're welcome. <imagine a smiley here, but CH wraps it wrong>

Make that birthday cake flavored vodka and you've got a winner. ;)

Really? I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention to the Spirits board (though I regularly visit others on CH). But I'm not interested in cocktails, which are currently popular, or mixers. If there were more discussion of single malts or even blends, I might be interested.

Possibility: the board is a victim of its own comprehensiveness. Four out of five times I might post a question, I find what I'm looking for in the archives.

Everyone got simultaneously busy? Late-winter depression? Tax season almost upon us? *shrug*

I'm sure it'll come back. Activity here is a bit cyclical, perhaps.

What are you drinking this evening?

Zach Pearson's Honeymusk. Smith & Cross, Cynar, pineapple, lemon. Very good. Cynar / pineapple combo is unexpected.

                            Or white Zinfandel.
