Lion's Share (Downtown SD)

I had a brief visit there over the weekend and was thrilled with the game-meat sausages (liked the deviled eggs as well). Our group loved the antelope sliders and the burger with boar-bacon. I haven't heard anything on chowhound about this place, except for the cocktails. The menu has lots of intriguing items. Did I just get lucky on my visit or is this place underrated? If the latter, I'd like to go back for a full dinner, looking for Chounder's favorites.

  1. Does anybody how crowded they are on weekends (Friday/Saturday) especially later at night 9pm+ ? Is it similar to Starlite where you might have to wait for 20-30 minutes sometimes or no wait at all.

We went on a Saturday night at 10pm and they fit 6 of us in within a few minutes. It was still fairly busy but there were a few tables. It was also the St. Paddy's day thing downtown, however that affects the restaurants.

    2. I think they do a nice job with both food and cocktails. I don't think your experience was a fluke, but, of course, the only way to be sure is to simply go back ;-)

      1. Went there Saturday, my first visit. I was very pleased with both food and cocktails.

        1. I went with my kids several weeks ago. They thought the deviled eggs were neat (iirc they decided they liked the one with the caviar the best), and they also liked the sliders.

I think I had the kangaroo and they split a burger for the main course. Pretty good. We'll be going back again in the next few weeks, and I'll post fresh thoughts with more detail.
