Woodland in Brooklyn

Four of us went last night before the Nets game @ Barclay's.
Very nice space.
Tasty French onion soup but it was was barely hot.
Excellent entrees, Pork Shank, Lamb chops, Salmon & Mushroom dish.
Ditzy server forgot our side orders, took away our half finished drinks and disappeared after she brought the check.
Totally odd: They don't have any artificial sweeteners for coffee or iced tea!!
The owner of one of my favorite North Fork restaurants does not like straws so you can't get a straw in your drink. No Splenda or Sweet and Low?? Odd!

We went to Woodland for the first time on Friday night.

    Not impressed.

All we got were burgers. I ordered mine medium--it came out closer to well done. DGF order medium rare--it came out closer to raw. My burger seemed overworked... the texture was tough.

The product doesn't justify the prices, either. Draft beers were $7-9. The very mediocre burgers were $14, I think. It felt to me like the owner is simply trying to cash in on the proximity to the arena.

    I doubt we'll be back.

      Try Melt next time.
It was an excellent experience from start to finish.

That type of service would definitely keep me away. I hope the server took the side orders off the check before she handed it to you. The drinks should have been comped as well.

How did you know the server was a she?
It was a business dinner and not worth making an issue of the errors. We did all have a good laugh.
We were all first timers at the restaurant. I don't think any of us will be back. So many other options in the area.
