Stout Cake that Actually Tastes like Beer?
Does anyone have a recipe for stout / Guinness cake or cupcakes that actually tastes like beer? I know there are my recipes -- most call for about 1 - 1.5 c beer for a recipe based on 2 c flour. I've made these, I've even tried boiling the beer to get a concentrated reduction, and while the cake is good, it does not have the flavor of beer.
I'm thinking of trying two variations: (1) Soaking the cake in beer instead of a simple syrup or (2) Trying a cake with less chocolate so the beer can shine.
I've had beer muffins, so I know it's possible to get a good beer flavor in a baked good. Has anyone had success with chocolate cake???
