Looking for wine yeast balls (qu / jiuqu / jiuyao)

I did a search on this and didn't come up with anything, so my apologies if someone has already posted on this topic and I just wasn't able to locate it.

Inspired by a Harold McGee article in the Chinatown issue of Lucky Peach, I'd like to make rice wine at home for a party I'm going to on Friday. I think McGee is NYC-based, so I'm assuming the necessary wine yeast balls are available in our Chinatown. But as there's not much time between now and then, and I have a busy work schedule, it would be a huge help if I knew where to go! Can anyone help me out?

Thanks so much!

      Interesting, thanks for the links.
Going to go to a few places I'm Chinatown today, fingers crossed!
Looks like he's actually SF based...

    2. I wish I had a specific rec but these little suckers are definitely in any Chinatown market, Kam Mun or the big one on Elizabeth, in the aisle with most of the sticky rice powder and other "baking" supplies. I will look more specifically next time.

Thanks so much for the tip!
I have finally found them! It was quite an adventure but I think that is part of the fun of this little project!

Where did you find them, out of curiosity?
