We're driving from Boston to Newport Wednesday....best places to get bread, cheese, sandwiches, take out items around Newport and northwards? Thanks.

Newport wine and cheese on Bellevue ave near the viking hotel. Sandwiches at blue rocks deli on lower Thames for sandwiches and take out

Haven't been in a few years but Katrina's bakery in the stop and shop plaza on Bellevue is great.

Try Provencal Bakery and Cafe in Middletown. I've had their bread which is good but not visited the cafe. They may just do sandwiches. Clements' Marketplace in Portsmouth is a small supermarket with a good selection of baked goods, cheese, seafood, salads, etc. Not quite a Whole Foods but you should be able to find what you need. In Newport, check out La Maison de Coco for chocolates, biscotti, tarts.
