Looking for a SHARP Cheddar....

Please suggest some cheddars that are really extra sharp in flavor. Don't care about type of milk, country of origin, etc. Just looking for sharp!!! Thanks.

I have found that NY State Cheddar is a lot sharper than Vermont. This is in the lower end line unfortunately. But when in doubt, that's what I go for.

Our Sam's Club has a Black Diamond 4-year that's quite sharp. $11 per lb. and worth it. Sharper than Cabot 3-year (which is BTW is considerably sharper than their "Seriously Sharp")

I get the 5 star cheese at my farmers' market, but there are older ones and they ship.

I'm not sure if its available outside of Canada, but Balderson makes a fabulous 6-year old cheddar. Very sharp.

Where are you located? There's a small local producer who sells at my local farmer's market (near Boston) that makes what they call "rat cheese," a ridiculously strong cheddar. A taste of that can be as powerful as a mouthful of fresh horseradish. (Sorry, I can't remember the name of the vendor, and the market won't be open again until June).

I'm on the coast in NC. Only one decent cheese shop within an hours+ drive. Usually order through Igourmet.

I'm a big fan of Keens cheddar.
              Best cheddar I've tasted IMHO.

                Cabot's Seriously Sharp Cheddar, perfection!

I've tried it before. Really enjoyed it, but I'm looking for sharper.
