Bistro Rouge - YYC
I went a few weeks ago. The decor and service was really great. I enjoyed the food. Both dishes were on the lighter side, which I appreciated. I had their apple-beet salad that was beautiful but small for $12. It was a good size for a starter. For my main, I had their chicken paillard, which is a flattened piece of meat with toppings on it. Kind of like a meat-crust pizza. It was topped with tomatoes, spinach, goat cheese and artichoke. I loved it. My husband ordered the mushroom veloute & lobster pasta. He was pleased with both. In the end, we got lattes and he ordered a marshmallow with lemon curd & creme anglais. I was going to get the chocolate mousse but didn't... and regretted it once I tried his dessert. It was one of the best lemon curds I've ever tried! I'm not usually a marshmallow fan but this was really good.
I live in the South so we went out of our way to eat at Bistro Rouge. I would go again if I was in the neighbourhood but probably won't take the 30 minute drive again soon... there are so many other places to try lately!
