Which restaurant do you like during Lent?

Angelina Mar 15, 2013 09:20 AM

I know this is a hugely vague question, but last week we went to Shore Fresh in Pt. Pleasant Beach and will probably never step foot in th place again. Everything was so bad compared to the summer where I happen to enjoy the place.

Since I am in Monmouth County, I am always searching..and hoping :) for something worthwhile. Any suggestions? Thanks!!

Pretty much the same restaurants as at any other time of the year. Maybe I'm missing something?

I don't know what kind of problem you had at Shore Fresh, since you didn't explain, but we routinely get meals there all year round and there's no difference in quality----maybe you mean in ambience because there aren't jovial crowds? And are you going to the one on Channel Drive or Bridge Ave? Bridge Ave is the one we go to, so you may want to try there. To me there seems to be even more lobster in the lobster bisque in winter. Yum! Plus, they had lent specials in the ValPak that offer even better deals than usual. The only thing I don't like there is the balsamic glazed salmon. Maybe it was just the time I got it, but the sauce was watery and the salmon portion teeny. Some menu items are better deals than others, but everything always tastes fantastic. Plus the people there are super friendly.

Hi bluela! I agree with you that the one on Bridge Ave. is much better. I was disappointed over the summer with the Channel Dr. location aslo, so it really put the nail in the coffin for that spot. My daughter always gets the lobster mac & cheese, but it ws definately missing something! None of the fish looked fresh, and they had it to a bear minimum. We were the only diners on a friday around 5 ish...no take out..no calls...and we were there for over an hour.

My flounder did not taste fresh at all! very dry. I also thought the place was filthy. Can they please throw away all the ketchup bottles with a tablspoon left in it?? The bottles were all upside down on the tables, the floor was dirty, and 2 tables were left dirty the entire time we were there.

Since you mention PP, Shipwreck would fit the bill. Though careful with the poached lobster dish as it has Chorizo, not lent friendly lol.

Thanks Angelo!! I LOVE Shipwreck....but not with my 2 year old!!! My husband and I did have a "date nite" there last summer and I am always completely satisfied with the place! I suppose I should have mentioned we have a patron with us, who likes to eat fast, needs entertainment, and likes the freshest of foods..like her mommy makes! :)

Are you still cooking up a storm for Greek Easter?? :)
