Nice, quiet place for business lunch near LAX/Manhattan Beach/El Segundo??
cafe del rey in marina del rey.
indoors (i'm not a fan of outdoor business lunches).
very good service
extremely good-looking restaurant with views of the marina from every table. (NOT an "edgy" restaurant)
attended parking lot right in front of the restaurant.
all of the food is easily managed with forks and knives (i.e. no bones)
salad greens are cut into small enough pieces so that they can be gracefully consumed.
good by the glass wine list
dignified without being stuffy.
they will let you linger, there has never been any pressure from them to turn over tables.
It's a lovely patio, but possibly the most inconsistent kitchen in town. When I last had lunch there, our party of four was served two delicious lunches, and two that were vile-bordering-on-inedible. And since we had what my mom likes to call "Halley's Waitress" (i.e., drifts through your solar system every 76 years), there wasn't enough time to send anything back to the kitchen.
The nearby Houston's has gotten a bit, um, ambitious in its pricing lately (as have all Houston's) but you can pretty much rely on getting a good lunch with quick service there.
