Sakaya
My last 5 visits to Sakaya have been sub par. It used to be one of my favorite places to eat, but after tonight it will be a long time before I return.
The downtown location is not good and the midtown location isn't much better.
I can't possibly be the only one who has noticed... Or am I?

My folks were in town a few months ago and we hit Sakaya for lunch. I had forgotten how much I like it. I just don't make it to that Midtown area often. The soft shell crab bun, spicy tots, and banh mi were awesome. My folks ordered a salad and a chicken w/ coconut rice bowl. There was so much chicken in both, we took it to go and I got 3 more meals out of it in the following days! The only thing that was disappointing was the brussels sprouts because they were swimming in marinade. Other than that it was a great and very filling lunch.

I was there just last Friday night and can say that, while I do think a level of decline has happened, my overall meal was enjoyable. The burger wasn't looking as good as it used to. and the chunk'd tots were lacking on the meat, but the ribs were good and I destroyed the brussels sprouts. Richard Hales was in the kitchen expediting, which is always nice to see.

Curiously I was just there (Midtown) after not having been for quite a while and don't agree at all - in fact, I was literally saying to myself "Damn, I forgot how good these banh mi buns and kalbi-chunked spicy tots were."
