Tampa, FL Lunch Recommendation

  • 4

Hey All,

My wife and I are coming into town this Saturday, and our first stop when we get off the plane is going to be Cigar City Brewing Company. We would love a recommendation for a good lunch spot on the way to the brewery from the airport, or in the vicinity of the brewery?

Thanks for the help. Cheers!

  1. Here's a few solid lunch choices which are within a mile or two of the brewery and the airport.

La Teresita on Columbus Ave is west of the airport. It's good and inexpensive Tampa-style Cuban food, and they have an old-school lunch counter to eat at.

Sa Ri One Korean is a couple of blocks south of the brewery on Cypress Ave (just south of I-275).

The decor isn't much, but the food is good.

If you want something nicer, Charley's Steak House is just south of the airport.

If you're looking for good lunch specials, Lee Roy Selmon's is a good local chain just south of the airport.

Thanks Deet! This is exactly what I was looking for.

I had also just come read a few things that they often have Food Trucks at the brewery. Do you know if this is the case? And would that be a good option too?

Unfortunately the food trucks usually show up there on Friday evenings (around 5pm), so they'll be too late for lunch. As for the rest of the time, the food trucks pretty much show up whenever they arrive.

Just don't plan on seeing any trucks before Friday evening (IMO, Burger Culture & Wicked 'Wiches are probably the best of the food truck bunch)...

Check the "Events" link on Cigar City Brewery's website to see what's going on.

Also y'all should check the Tasting Room link to see which brews they're serving. The Cigar City IPA and the Florida Cracker Ales are my favorites.

Bummer on the Food Trucks. We're coming in on Saturday, so looks like we would definitely miss that chance. Thanks for the other recommendations though. The cuban place looks fantastic.

Really looking forward to Cigar City too, Aside from being into food, I'm a bit of a craft beer geek as well. We live in Maryland, and thus can't get Cigar City up here, so this will be a bit of a brewery pilgrimage that I've always wanted to do.
