Birthday Dinner
Oops. Waited too long and Lenoir only has a 5:30 reservation for a table (or a 6 for the bar, but that doesn't sound very "special"). I've been to Congress, Uchi, Uchiko, Trio, Carillon, Wink, Fabi & Rosi, Vespaio, Hudson's, Fonda SM.
Should I take the 5:30 reservation (wow, that's really early - even for me) is there someplace else OR should I just make my reservation for "not my birthday - birthday in April?

Oh well. Wasn't meant to be. Got sick yesterday and had to cancel my reservations. Someone was happy to get our two-top...

I haven't been and certainly it may not be as "special" as the above mentioned joints, but is French Quarter Grill worth a decent night out while waiting for something more upscale? I've been hearing good news.

re: slowcoooked
We were hoping there would be a cold Sunday to do the brunch, but no such luck. This is still on the radar for a lunch/dinner on a "regular week."
I've been tempted to do Chez Nous. It's reliable. It's tasty. It's good bang for the buck. Sometimes, that's all you need for an exceptional evening.

re: ieathereforeiam
I'll second that. Low fuss, easy parking, good service, gorgeous patio. I chose them for my birthday last year, and was very pleased I had. If your birthday happens to be on a Sunday when they're having their family dinner, even better.
Other ideas: La Condesa, Sway, Olivia, TX French Bread, or FINO...
