Best chocolate cake (from a bakery) in Toronto, 2013

Looking for that moist, dense, dark, fudgy beast. Not flourless. Not light and airy. C'mon folks, name your source!!! (I need one for my husband's birthday, so it must be celebration-worthy!)

    So, we ended up getting a cake from Andrea's Gerrard Street Bakery. It's so close to home. Plus, the chocolate cake was just the perfect size to share. And, it definitely satisfied! Rich, dense, fudgy fabulousness!

    Thanks, all, for your recommendations! Any other suggestions welcome, as I'm sure we're not the only ones looking for great chocolate cake.

      I had a chocolate cake at County General tonight that was absolutely, positively, insane. I almost took the whole thing home. Not sure how long they'll have it, but it seems like you'd appreciate it.

          It's made by the pastry chef at Splendido. 7 different layers, all of them delicious!

        Glad you liked it! I am a big fan of Andrea's.

        I have found it to be one of the best chocolate cakes I have ever managed to find. BTW Their carrot cake is excellent as well!

        I love the chocolate fudge cake from dufflet with bittersweet chocolate icing. It's really dense and not super sweet.

          Andrea's Gerrard Street Bakery. Perfect density, not overly sweet. Good chocolate flavour. They always have small ones for sale for $8? (I think) The size may look small but perfectly makes 4 pieces.

              Admittedly, I don't eat chocolate cake that much BUT I liked the chocolate cake from Noisette Pastry Works in Thornhill. I've also spoken with the owner, Hannah, before and she is really nice. I'm sure that if you spoke with her and said what you were looking for she would be able to customize a cake to suit your taste.
