Stopping between Detroit and Cleveland
The major city along the route is Toledo. You'll find recommendations and reports for Toledo in the topic at www.chow.com/topics/397505 and they're still reasonably current. One restaurant not covered there is Registry Bistro, which is owned/run by acclaimed chef Erika Rapp, formerly of the now-closed Diva (which I posted about in that topic). I have not yet eaten at Registry Bistro but look forward to doing so this spring. www.registrybistro.com Two other places I enjoy in Toledo are Mancy's Bluewater Grill for seafood and Bangkok Kitchen for Thai food; however, they are both in Maumee, and would be somewhat out of the way, assuming you would be using I-280 for your route between Toledo and the Ohio Turnpike.
I can recommend two other places along your route. For high-end fine dining, Chez Francois in Vermillion is outstanding. www.chezfrancois.com And at the opposite end of the spectrum, if you enjoy fried perch in a casual fast-food environment, you'll like Jolly Roger in Port Clinton; see details at http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/8632...
