This weekend in the ATL

So we are going to come down to Atlanta for a conference and will be in the downtown area for the weekend and we had some questions for locals to the area. We will be near the Peachtree Center and prefer someplace in walking distance.
So first big question; We've seen the TV shows showing The Varsity and that they still have car hop service. We were thinking about it for along the way in or out of town. Is the experiece worth it?
Then we will be seeking food on Friday and Saturday nights hopefully something within walking distance of the Westin.
Looking forward to everyone's answers.

You should try Alma Cocina 191 Peachtree St. Very good, upscale mexican. This is most certainly within walking distance.

Second for Alma Cocina. Hearing good things about White Oak Kitchen but haven't been yet.
But truly, search the board for "downtown" and you'll find everything already covered. Downtown restaurants don't change very often. Just know that most of the interesting places listed on Broad St. are only open for lunch.

Unfortunately, there's very little within walking distance of your hotel. Ted's Montana Grill isn't too bad. If you do a search on here for "downtown" you'll find a few threads. The good news is there is a light rail station right at the Westin (MARTA) and you can take it to Midtown, Buckhead or Decatur where you'll have lots of options.
