Family Dinner near white house
I'm looking for dinner in the white house area for my family (some of whom have never visited DC before).
There will be 8 of us, ranging in age from 23 to 78. Looking for a relatively casual meal, coming in under $30pp (excluding tax/tip/alcohol).
Italian or American cuisine would probably be ideal.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!!!
Down the block from the White House is Old Ebbitt Grill. I've had a lot of luck with bigger family dinners there and it's in your price range. I've always felt it's got that very classic, old-school, all-American D.C. feel that would be cool for District first timers.
Edit: Ah, ipsedixit beat me! Darn slow internet. Well, I second Old Ebbitt!
Well, let's not get carried away.
The food at Old Ebbit Grill is fine, maybe even pretty good, but "great" and "outstanding"? No dice.
Old Ebbit Grill is a good fit for the OP's criteria -- beyond that, there's nothing intrinsically good about the place beyond tradition and as a tourist's destination.
You should go to The Hamilton. There is a little bit of something for everything and you likely can stay within your price range. Make a reservation for a party that large though.
