Italian Rum Cake in Southern Connecticut

I'm looking to pick up an old-fashioned Italian rum cake for Easter. We tried the cake from Lucibello's a few years ago. It was good but not great - not as good as the ones I bought years ago at Mike's Pastry in Boston's North End.

Is Lucibello's my best bet, or have you had better?

If you are near the Bridgeport area go to Del Prete on Main St. You have to order ahead of time.

Modern Pastry on Franklin Ave. in Hartford makes a great one. If Old Saybrook is closer to you, you can order one at Pasta Vita.

Bingo - Modern Pastry is #1 and will be well worth the trip.
