3* destination outside Paris - Troisgros or ?

FairHope Mar 11, 2013 11:23 AM

Will be in Paris for 3 weeks in May. Would like to do overnight trip outside Paris (via train - 3hrs or less) for 3* dining experience. Maison Troisgros is currently top contender as they have a Nuit d'etoiles special - 4/5 course dinner with drinks, double room and breakfast for 720E for two people - dinner alone is 225-275E per person so this seems like a good deal. Can also go to Troisgros' Le Central for lunch while in Roanne. Doesn't look like Roanne has much to offer outside Maison Troigros. What else should we consider? Thanks!

Or, following Nancy into Belgium, In de Wulf. A short cab ride from the train. http://indewulf.be/en/

Or better still, make it a two day trip and do both -- that's our routine, to be repeated this summer.

Go to Belgium and have an excellent, should be 3 stars but is only 2, at De Jonkman in Bruges.

Nancy, I think that De Jonkman does not have rooms. Where do you stay that is convenient to dine here?

We've stayed in BnB's in Bruges -- it's a really quick drive, or taxi ride, from the center of the city.
