Bellingham: bye-bye Cafe Curry, hello...

Well, Cafe Curry in Cordata is gone. In its place is a Mexican place. The owner of Westside Pizza says it is good and the woman who owns it is awesome. I'll miss Cafe Curry and hope for the best for the new place. The other insider info from the pizza place owner is that Goji has their act together again. Guess we'll give it another try.

  1. That's too bad ! I must say it was the one (and only) time we've ever had decent curry in all of Bellingham (not that there were ever that many options to begin with ......). And the family, or at least the owner and his daughter, treated us royally. He told me his wife actually works at London Drugs (like a Fred Meyer) up on this side of the border in White Rock/S. Surrey, and she commutes daily from their home in around Ferndale area IIRC.

Hope they didn't tank financially and are able to resume another venture elsewhere local.

So did Goji lose their way in the past and are now new & improved ?

Agreed about Cafe Curry. I hope they reopen, but ???

Goji has been wildly inconsistent. Good when they first opened, after that it was a wild card. Apparently they were burning through chefs every few weeks, so that explains it. They now have a steady chef and are back on track.

    2. Has anyone tried California Tacos and Fresh Juices, which replaced Café Curry? It has a couple of promising mentions on Y**p... apparently the fellow who owns it previously ran a taco truck on Guide Meridian.

So the Mexican place is already gone (see Laura's orig. post at top) or is this the same operation ?

Same thing. Pretty good food. We've eaten there several times -- tacos, burritos, tortas, all very good.

Thanks Puzzler. We're not keen on the Mex foods on S. Samish Way or in downtown (Taco Lobo, Banditos, Jalapenos, etc), so it's good to have more and better options up thataways.

            Reviews confirm positive comments above:

BTW, anyone been to Pepper Sisters lately ? Last couple times I drove by they looked closed.

We've had a few things from California Tacos. They did run a popular food truck. We had some yummy eats, and the people that run it are so nice. I hope they can make it through the summer, which is sorta' slow around Cordata since WCC is not in session.
