Side dish recs
We're trying a new dish tonight from "All About Braising". It's chicken with merguez sausage, smoked paprika and roasted red peppers (recipe actually calls for rabbit, but we couldn't find any).
Since the dish seems to encompass a lot of Spanish flavors, my first thought was saffron rice. Problem is that we've had rice the last two nights with stir fry.
Any ideas for side dishes?
For a starch, I'd consider cous-cous, especially if you are familiar with the importance of broth and seasoning balance. Added nice bit: whole wheat cous-cous is actually one of the only whole-wheat pasta starches that I find quite agreeable. Findable in health-food stores with bulk bins. Regular is great, too.
I'd consider sauteed greens on the side, too--beet greens are my favorite, but hard to find in quantity. Chard, spinach...
