Dough in Caldwell, "Artisan Pizzeria" - any info/feedback?

chowhounder411 Mar 8, 2013 04:12 PM

Just saw this place on Rosie Saferstein's list of openings/closings. I saw a wood burning oven on their web site (http://www.doughartisanpizzeria.com/) and called to ask if it's Neapolitan. The hostess didn't know what that was and described the pizza as "personal artisan pizza." I'm confused. That being said, it could be wonderful. I will try it this week and report back.

I seem to remember reading about this place on here...maybe in the thread about the new pizza place in Morristown...?

ETA: Went searching and I don't see it on here, so I obviously read/heard about it somewhere else. Sorry!

I just remembered that Razza the Arturo's guys' new spot in Jersey City describes their pizza as artisanal too. Dough sounds inspired by them in a lot of ways

Head over to Arturo's in Maplewood, best pizza of this ilk in the Tri State. (Including NYC!) Got the highest rating in the NY Times (Don't Miss)

I just mentioned Arturo's... I would say it's a Don't Miss for the area because it's good and moderately priced but not Don't Miss as in worthy of traveling a long distance to get to. NY Times puts their super junior writers on the Dining in New Jersey section it seems, I've been to a few crummy restaurants they loved. They did love Chengdu 23 though as do I, but so does everyone!!
