humble potato Tempeh-baga (their version of a veggie burger)

westsidegal Mar 5, 2013 09:26 PM

description:
Meaty Veggie: Indonesian-style tempeh, romaine, thick cut tomato, avocado, toasted wheat bun, HP red sauce – 7.95

when i told the cook/chef that i didn't want any mayo (one of the ingredients of the humble red sauce) he suggested using Tonkatsu sauce instead. Also, although it wasn't shown in the description, they put some terrific grilled onions on it in addition to the other toppings.
the tempeh was crunchy, and i believe it was probably deep fat fried.

the resulting sandwich was wonderful. ended up inhaling it.
(i don't think i would have enjoyed it nearly as much without the tonkatsu sauce and without the grilled onions.)

I'm pretty sure westsidegal is referring to Humble Potato, the Japanese style burger joint in Westchester. It sounds pretty good even to a carnivore like me.
