Hi Friends,
Getting in the car tomorrow and heading out to Joshua Tree to see the sky and some art for the weekend. Would love to hear where I should stop for eats along the way and once there. Thanks!

It's been a couple of years, but a surprise find for me was a place called, I think, the Country Kitchen, on 29 Palms Hwy. Everything I had there was really good, I even had them make sandwiches to go for the drive home. It's not fancy. Really not fancy, but homestyle food. I even would have tried their more ambitious dishes if I'd had the time, but to start I stuck with the diner fare. Crossroads Cafe had decent California style pub food.

Those are my cheap eats, as I remember them!

I'm linking to a recent NY times travel article on Joshua Tree.

Thanks Dumpling. Not fancy and homestyle food sounds just like what I need. Thanks also for the NYT link - I have that around my house somewhere.
