Free Range Fried Chicken in Los Angeles?

A year and a half ago, I decided to stop supporting the cruelty of factory farms by only eating grass-fed meat and free range chicken. Luckily, Los Angeles is filled with places to get amazing grass-fed burgers, and I've had a ton of them.

However, I haven't been able to find free range fried chicken anywhere! I miss that crispy, deliciousness more than anything else.

Have any of you guys found any restaurants in the area that serve great fried chicken that comes from a humane source?

FYI, jidori by definition is free range in Japanese, literally "chicken of the earth". Plan Check also makes a nice jidori fried chicken.

On Sundays, Farmshop in Brentwood had a three course fried chicken dinner and I believe uses Jidori chickens. The chef is an Ad Hoc alum and I like his prep better than that at Bouchon.

I'd venture a guess that the Ad-Hoc fried chicken night at Bouchon would fit the bill.

Thank you for that! Yes, it looks very good, and I will definitely try it, but I'm really looking for fried chicken pieces more than sandwiches :)

Josh Loeb and Zoe Nathan’s bakery café is always bustling, but on Thursday nights, they tend to slow things down, gathering the community to sit side-by-side for a proper three-course meal. They occasionally feature Free Range Fried Jidori Chicken. To start the summer of 2012, they revised the recipe, which still involves buttermilk brine, but now includes a flour batter seasoned with cayenne and hot sauce. They feature de-boned thighs and airline-cut breasts, both of which have a pronounced chicken flavor that comes from free-ranging the birds. During our dinner, they accompanied the chicken with a summery bowl of beans (purple runner and fava), string beans and sweet Brentwood corn.
