One pizza going and another coming in Chapel Hill

Another institute is riding off into the sunset in the form of Pepper's Pizza while another chain is trying again for a spot in the form of Mellow Mushroom (which I believe has tried twice for a pizza spot in Chapel Hill). If this doesn't work out, I say turn the spot into something like a Sono in Raleigh or Ramen shop or a Pho/Bahn Mi shop. As far as Pepper's spot... same goes. What would you like to see move into the blank spots of Chapel Hill?

I would like to see a brewpub with the best beers that NC has to offer with great, unpretentious food like what The Federal used to serve. ToPo and Carolina Brewery hasn't gotten it done.

I'll take one for the team, taste them all, and let you know (who's buying?).

On the main question: given the demographics and foot traffic, anything in the campus blocks of Franklin is going to have to make money at lunch to make it. I would love something along the lines of a torta shop. On the other hand, in a world saturated with burritos and pizza, something lighter, a place with a really good salad would be welcome for me.

The obvious answer would be the ones the proprietor thinks are the best. Beers could also be featured on a rotating basis to keep things interesting.

I'd just like Korchipi to have more korean things like you'd find at Vit Goal; the fresh tofu and soups etc I think that would be very popular.

I thought that too but I have a feeling that won't happen. After all, their name is Kor(ean) Chi(cken) Pi(zza)! Guess we'll have to head down the road a few miles to Ming Ga for those things.

By the way, I want to hear about your recent trip!

I've heard MinGa is a mixed bag. I also don't know that Korchipi has the space to do a lot.

On another note.. 501 Diner (or whatever it was called) is also closed.

My experience is similar to what I've read on the net. Good food but prices are higher than Chosun Ok and Vit Goal, and cold and aloof service.

Oh no! We love 501 Diner. Heartbreaking. Lulu and her Dad were just there 2 weeks ago.

Hard to believe that 501 Diner is closed. Every time I drive past that place, and especially on the weekend, the place looked packed. Cars parked everywhere and people waiting outside. I drove past it just a few Saturdays ago and it looked just as busy as always. Strange.

Never been to Ming Ga, hmm.

Heh, it was great. Helsinki was fabulous, very expensive with super fish, and wonderful spicy cinnamon rolls the next day over coffee. In Estonia the farmer's market was amazing with every variety of local mushroom, wonderful preserves, a mind-boggling display of local fish and sausages. A real foodie heaven.

I'm trying to follow the link between MingGa and Helsinki and Estonia?

I was never a big Pepper's fan but I liked it better than Mellow Mushroom. I'm more bummed that Camo's Brothers Pizza closed.

Any idea why Camos Bros closed? I was under the impression that it was doing well. On the upside, the owner is back in the Raleigh store full-time and the quality there is back to where it used to be.

Vimala's is doing great;-) I remember after the opening Camos wasn't busy; they didn't serve anything different.
