Beaver's Houston

A friend had a Groupon, and so we went. Big mistake. Waitress recommended the pickle brined chicken fried chicken as her favorite thing on the menu. Yes, I was a tad put off by the description, but she we did. Chicken breast marinated in pickle juice to a greenish color and coated in a batter that promptly fell off like a turtle shell once punctured with the steak knife, revealing the greenish color. Really awful. Tough chicken, overcooked breast underneath, served over tolerable cheese grits and with a side of truffled green bean casserole substituted for the "braised greens and vegetables " on the menu. Green beans were dark green, yet chewy and tough, how does that happen? Seriously uncomfortable and awkward space. Really, just try to go to the restroom there, ladies. Impossible. As is the parking. Could not get out fast enough.
