gmcguireinrome Mar 1, 2013 03:41 AM

We just got back from a very brief trip to Istanbul.

We ate very well at the following places. Yes, even in Sultanahmet!

Spread out in 3 locations - Take the ferry over to the Asian side for lunch here
Ciya Kebap
Caferaga Mah. Güneslibahce Sk. 48/B Kadiköy - Istanbul
(216) 336 30 13
email: info@ciya.com.tr

For the best breakfast in Istanbul it is worth hunting down this place
Besiktas Kaymakci aka Pando Kaymak
Koyici Meydani Sok., Besiktas
Telephone: 212-258-2616

Lovely fish restaurant near the Empress Zoe Hotel
Balıkçı Sabahattin
Seyit Hasan Koyu Sokak 1
212 458 1824

Billed by many as the best gilled lamb and kofte in Istanbul
Tarihi Sultanahmet Koftecisi
Divanyolu Caddesi 12

Did you find it difficult to get around? I am looking at going there, but the maps and language seem difficult.

Not at all - I live in Rome and somehow Istanbul seems much easier to navigate.

The more difficult places (like Pando) we took a taxi and had the taxi driver find it for us :)

With my iPhone and the apps I downloaded and very helpful Turks, we were always able to find where we wanted to go.
