Phuket opening shortly in Wakefield...(does Wakefield really need 5 Thai restaurants?))

Its opening in a couple weeks in the Zaleks location. Seems to have good reviews of their other location, but i still cant fathom why one little town needs so much of one type of restaurant... although i guess it goes with wakefield tending toward mainly 2 types of restaurant.. Italian and Asian... Not much for seafood shacks, deli, greek, caribbean, bbq, mexican etc..

Maybe because Wakefield hasn't got it right yet w Thai food. Hopefully this one finally works.

Of course it could be argued that Wakefield only has ONE Thai restaurant worth eating at.

Red Sugar Cafe is the only decent Thai in Wakefield. The others are poor to mediocre and one should just be closed.

I live right next to Wakefield. Am aware of:

Porchai's -- terrible, the one time I tried it. Can't really recall specifics but never again.

Duck Walk -- Food not great; kind of gloppy/overly sweet flavors. Overpriced.

Red Sugar -- Have not tried it after disappointing experiences with the other two, since it has VERY mixed reviews.

I'm hopeful for Phuket. The only decent place in the area, IMO, is Taste of Siam in Stoneham.

Is there another place I've missed? The OP mentioned "5" restaurants.

BTW, I'll happily take one of those Brazilian places off of your hands, trufflehound. Will trade you one churrascaria for TWO of Wakefield's existing Thai places. Deal??

Phuket, DuckWalk, Porchai, Red Sugar and Sei Bar-mixed Asian inc. Thai.. thanks for the reviews! Wish i could eat at Taste of Siam but WAY too spicy for me no matter what I requested and cant eat spicy food..

You're insight in these restaurants echoes my feelings exactly. You should give Red Sugar a shot. We had a decent experience there. But I have to say, when we want Thai, we head to Tom Yum Koong in Medford. They also deliver as far as Melrose.

And Framingham with 75K people and multiple malls has none.

Framingham needs to trade some of it Brazilian places for Thai.

my mom misses Morns which used to be in Wayland.. I think she likes a place in Wayland in one of those plazas heading toward Sudbury. It may be Asian with some Thai..
