Le Clos des Paulilles, the largest estate in the Collioure and Banyuls appellations, sold
That's in my back yard and it's good news. I believe this property had been in the hands of Chateau de Jau which was better at marketing than at winemaking.
Domaines Cazes is also a large endeavor, but they take winemaking seriously. I happen to know their oenolog, and I have a bottle of Crédo waiting for the right moment. I hardly ever drink Cabernet but they are one of very few making Cab in this province. I don't know why as I think the plain of Roussillon is more suited to Cab/Merlot than to Syrah/Grenache/Carignan/Mourvèdre.
Clos de Paulilles is on the gorgeous and rocky Vermilion Coast where just about all the vineyards are in famously photographed terraces and hand harvested.
