Portable Induction Burners

Does anyone have an iduction burner they really like? I have read a lot of reivews and hear a lot about small heating rings that create hot spots in the middle of pans, which to me is a problem.

Does anyone have an induction burner that heats evenly, and gets to good temps? Was hoping to find something under 250.

Are you hoping to cook everything on the induction burner, or using it to supplement your stove?

If the former, I think you'll have to accept that you'll pay more than $250 for fine gradations of power/heat, larger heating ring, etc. As far as I could tell, there's not much on offer between the $80-$120 Max Burtons (7" element, nine power levels) and the $800+ restaurant models (20-some power levels, ?" elements).
