Millie's in Delavan, WI closing

Sad news out of the Lake Geneva area. After 48 years, Millie's is closing. The announcement came today on their Facebook page.http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/Mill...

If you ever spent a Sunday morning with family having pancakes or chicken-and-dumplings at Millie's, I join you in mourning.

I remember that place! When we were little kids our parents would take us there for breakfast anytime we stayed at Lake Lawn. I remember the torture of having to decide between having the chocolate chip pancakes, Pigs in Blankets or some sort of "German pancake". It always seemed like the hardest decision I would ever have to make in my entire lifetime.

And I think they had some type of interesting antique store as well?

Thanks for posting this shaja. It really triggered some great childhood memories.

Fowler, your memory is excellent. That German pancake was huge and took forever, but was delicious. The antique store was part of a small collection of stores that dotted the grounds; when I was a kid the quilt store was a needlework and embroidery store.

We had a lot of family breakfasts there, and I had my wedding reception there. We actually tried to go there for lunch last Saturday, but the door was locked and the sidewalks unshoveled. No sign that they were closed permanently until yesterday's post.

48 years of memories for a LOT of people, which is why I wanted to share this here on Chowhound. Very sad.

Your link doesn't take me to Millie's FB page. It does, yes, take me to FB, but nothing about Millie's. I did pop a look at Millie's website, though, and under "Hours", it says CLOSED. So, there you have it. Sorry for your loss.
