Lima: fancy and dive bars, casual food?

Joanie Feb 26, 2013 01:11 PM

Hi, off to Peru for the typical tourist visit as part of a tour which kind of kills me but it was a good deal and makes life easier. Staying in the Miraflores area and looking for a good but not expensive dinner and more importantly, one fancy cocktail and one divey drink preferably in a rock music environment. Any thoughts? Unfortunately our time in Lima is on Mon/Tues so not sure what the market/flea mkt situation is on those days. Any insider tips are welcome, thanks. And Ave. San Andreas in Cuzco sounds right up my alley.

Thanks Sailing Nomad, good to get some feedback. The web site for Toro Retro Bar still works but the Chala one does not. Too bad.

So if you could go for one fancy cocktail but not be surrounded by all the "beautiful people", just a relaxing well made drink in a nice atmosphere, where would you go?

How far is Barranco from Miraflores? Walkable? Thanks.

          Ayahuasca.

Northern Barranco is walkable from southern Miraflores. Otherwise you can take the Metropolitano (2 soles) or a taxi (6-7 soles).
