Hi - I'm in Brooklyn for three nights and am thinking of trying
Henry's End, James, and Prime Meats.
All three don't seem to take reservations for small two people. Will I be able to easily get a table on a midweek evening?
I've never had a problem getting a table for 2 at Henry's End during the week. If, for some amazing reason, you hit the exact time that no tables are immediately available, they own the Wine Bar 3 doors away on the corner and you can have a drink there... they'll call you or come and get you.
The game menu's on... get the turtle soup.
Can I ask why you are planning on going to Henry's End? I used to like the place quite a bit. But things in the area have changed a lot over time and I think there are better options in the 'hood though if you like game, its unique. Last time we went, dinner was just ok. I wouldn't make a trek to go there.
Good to know. I'm totally open to other suggestions. I've never been to Brooklyn before so I've been mining this board for suggestions.
I've got three nights, and am staying at the Marriott on Adams near Tillary.
Any other ideas? What would've your top 3-5 options? More interested in good food than fine dining ambiance. I'd try anything.
I will confess I've never been to Henry's End. This is mostly due to the fact that I only seem to get to Brooklyn Heights on weekends, and it's always been too crowded.
However, I'm partial to Jack the Horse, right around the corner. Further down, on Atlantic avenue is Colonie, which is excellent. There's a newish place, also on Atlantic called Red Gravy. I guess it's gotten some mixed reviews--mostly due to price/portion, I think. I've yet to try it, but it's not terribly far from your hotel.
If you're willing to walk 15-20 minutes, there really are a ton of good places.
