Home Cooking Dish of the Month (March 2013) - Voting

Here we are in the final round for March. There were a lot of wonderful ideas in the nomination thread, which you can view here:
From the long list, the voting has been narrowed down to three choices:
Please cast your vote by writing your choice in ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Only one vote per person, please.
Since there was some discussion on the prior thread about what makes a vegetable soup, if that is your vote, please say a little something about what defines a vegetable soup.

Voting will be open until February 28th at 8pm Pacific time (11pm Eastern time, and 3am March 1st GMT).

  1. VEGETABLE SOUP with or without meat

barley. dried and fresh veg., dried mushrooms and flanken

      1. re: juliejulez

Can I change my vote? I would like to change it to TIKKA MASALA if possible.

          1. VEGETABLE SOUP, with or without meat, ie VEGETABLE BEEF

            1. VEGETABLE SOUP, please and TY.

I agree with poster bonoeuf that this is a good choice.

                      1. it's looking like veg soup is winning out...
i just don't like veggie soups. i had one once, ever, that i loved, in Italy, a minestrone. But i guess this is all about challenging ourselves, so if V Soup wins, I'll play along. probably not more than once tho!

                        TIKKA MASALA.

                          1. VEGETABLE SOUP - VEGETARIAN NOT REQUIRED

                            1. VEGETABLE SOUP- VEGETARIAN NOT REQUIRED.

                              I love creamy vegetable soups!

                              1. VEGETABLE SOUP VEGETARIAN NOT REQUIRED

                                    1. Seeing a pretty split field - so not wanting to 'weaken the pot' so to speak - I will stay away from chili now....

Tough call - love veggie soup - tho most of the ones I love aren't vegetarian - but I would rather do this in a more glorious vegetable month!

                                      So, TIKKA MASALA it is!

I agree with you. I would rather see vegetable soup in a month where veggies are more plentiful, like September. So, I'll vote TIKKA MASALA as well.

                                        1. TIKKA MASALA sounds great! Especially since a vegetable tikka masala is one of my favorite ways to enjoy the dish.

                                          Get's my vote.

                                          1. Just a reminder, if you're still on the fence, now is the time to decide. Voting closes tonight at 8pm Pacific time.

                                            1. I vote for CHILI.

March is pretty much the last of the cold weather in many, if not most, areas, & a nice bowl of chili hits the spot best in cold weather.

Both Tikka Masala & even Vegetable Soup can easily be enjoyed next time around as Spring really starts to spring.

vegetable barley soup with flanken is a winter hearty dish

                                                1. re: jpr54_1

I wasn't implying that vegetable soups AREN'T winter-hearty; just that many of them are multi-seasonal - especially when from-the-garden spring & summer vegetables are used.

And while chili can certainly be enjoyed any time as well, in my opinion it's most enjoyed when there's still a definitely chill in the air &/or snow on the ground. ;)

                                              2. CHILI
March is still cold in the northeast US.

geminigirl - Although it's pretty clear that this is a vote, please come back and enter your vote using all capital letters to make it official.
